THE OTHER PALIO

The strong desire to tell the story of this race starting from the nearly unknown winter activity allowed me to document the hard life of a jockey and the no-less interesting one of the horse, true hero of the Palio, desired as much as loved. A winter of long and exhausting months where there are no Saturday or Sunday holidays; where horses require daily care and the training activity of jockeys needs continuous strict lifestyles and diets.
For months I followed Andrea and Rocco Nice, getting up at dawn, challenging the freezing winter cold and snow, curious to catch new things useful in illustrating a story with the end already written. A tale of The Palio and, meanwhile, also about the man, an intimate portrait of the jockey.
